| Info | TF3. Intensely blue-green. Wonderful blue hybrid created by Dr. Benedict from a selfed H. 'Dorset Blue' seedling. Thick rounded leaves are an intense blue-green and form a dense mound topped with pale lavender flowers in July. This plant has only been available at very high prices...we are offering 2nd yr tissue-cultured plants that are nicely rooted and showing a good growth rate. This is one of Herb Benedict's crosses from his famous 'Dorset Blue' line. Some time ago he set out to prove that the tardianas could be pushed past the F3 level, which was at the time thought to be a barrier for further crossing. Theories to account for this abounded until the good doctor carried them to the F7 level with his 'Dorset Blue' crosses. 'Blue Clown' is one of the nicer examples of this, but it (like many of Herb's plants) has not yet made it into general circulation. Few have it these days, but we have one here. A small plant with excellent blue color. |
