Info | 'Blue Mouse Ears' blooms its "cute little head off" displaying a wonderful fancy flower display. However, rarely do any any of the flowers develop into seeds pods for hosta hybridizers to toy with. One year I was lucky to harvest three viable seeds from a single pod from my BME plant. And they grew despite my inept seed starting technique. And they grew nicely in the garden too. I gave two away to friends and kept one. A Hosta Seed Grower friend of mine says to always keep any BME seedlings as they may pass on desirable traits of the parent plant and who knows what you might end up with. This BME seedling readily sets viable seeds as attested by hosta seed grower, Reldon Ramsey. |
