Info | Uniform clump form, deeply impressed veins on a smooth leaf, excellent scape proportions all combined with exceptionally large leaves. Hosta 'Feathervane' is an ingenious cross of 'Hyuga Urajiro’ x 'Empress Wu' that resulted in the most perfect combination of characteristics one could have imagined. The deep green leaves look like the regal plumage of a giant bird, up to 17" long and just 8" wide, with many deeply impressed, tightly spaced veins. Foliage has a faint blue cast in the spring, giving way to dark green by early summer. Strong petioles hold the long, pointed leaves in a stately vase-like form that is especially distinct in younger clumps. A robust grower, Hosta 'Feathervane' will quickly form a huge living sculpture up to 34" tall and 80" wide that blooms in mid summer with fertile, near-white flowers that rest just above the leaves. A true masterclass in hosta design! |
