InfoFrom newcomer on the hosta sportfinding scene Jim McBurney comes this exciting sport of the old warhorse 'Blue Cadet'. Well streaked with cream and pale yellow tones, 'Plebe's Blues' has slightly smaller and narrower leaves. It was once reported by someone in an old Hosta Journal that 'Blue Cadet was one of the few plants that (as of that writing) had never sported from its original bluish-green solid color. Large numbers of them had been propagated with nary a speck of variegation, and we were starting to think then that it would never sip from the magic fountain of mutation. While not the first sport of 'Blue Cadet' to appear, this one is special. It has already produced seed and yielded streaked seedlings, so there is no wondering on that score. Who wouldn't want to try this one out for hybridizing? Hmmmmmm?
