This import from Japan has a similar shape to H. nigrescens with a very upright growth habit and large glossy blue green leaves. H. 'Tenryu' is highly prized in Japan for the white coating on the back of the leaves. The 7' tall flower spikes of light lavender top the plant in late summer.
Blue-green leaves have a white bloom (pruinose) on both sides. Plant grows like H. nigrescens in that the shape is very architectural (upright and vase-like) and the bloom scapes can reach as tall as 80" with lavender flowers.
An excellent new variety from Japan, with an upright habit similar to nigrescens. Large blue-green leaves are white on the reverse. Lavender flowers on very tall scapes.
Closely related to H. nigrescens with tall, vase-shaped, blue-green foliage.
Lavender flowers.
Giant vase-shaped plant from Japan. Blue-green foliage topped by 5-6' scapes of lavendar flowers in August. An outstanding specimen in our garden.
