Info | JN: Tsubomi Giboshi = "closed flower ball hosta". KN: Jookug-bibich'u or Ch'ambibich'u. 6" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. Tolerates sun. Less known than the standard hybrids, but no less wonderful, this spreading species makes an unusual groundcover of very dark green lance shaped leaves. In mid July, from the base of each rosette, flower stalks reach 22" tall, with flower buds that never open (clausa = closed). The buds are deep lavender with a hot pink ring around the base of the buds... very striking! Straplike dark green leaves; unique red-purple buds that do not open. Dark green, glossy upright leaves. Stoloniferous. Unusual purple flowers with a fuchsia-pink ring. The flowers elongate but never open. |
