Probably the most mysterious hosta to ever exist... rumored to be a product of experimental radiation! Its price reflects the ineffectiveness of tissue culture in reproducing this plant. H. 'Embroidery' (an H. hypoleuca derivative) makes a small clump to 20" wide. Each shiny green leaf emerges in spring with a creamy white center and a fabulous "stitched" edge. The center coloration and some of the exaggerated stitching fades in warm weather. In early summer, the clump is topped with arching stalks of light lavender flowers... only for the serious collector!
Unusual white centered green. With stitched edge.
Many have been in want of this plant for years but the price has always made it unobtainable and those of us who did purchase it usually had a difficult time growing it. Now we can offer tissue-cultured plants that have been grown a couple years, have good roots and are proven at a price that is not unthinkable. The plant comes from a seed that was radiated, the shiny leaf emerges in the spring with a creamy-white center which fades to green by summer and a margin that is gathered and puckered. Lavender flowers in summer.
