This 91 introduction first caught our eye and then our hearts. H. 'Flame Stitch' is the reverse variegation of H. ventricosa 'Aureomarginata'. The difficulty in propagation assures that this will never be a widespread variety, although we find that plenty of sun makes it grow much faster. The creamy white leaves are bordered with an irregular edge of dark green. In late summer, the 2' wide clumps are topped with 30" spikes of large dark purple bell-like flowers.... simply stunning!
This is the reverse of H. ventricosa 'Aureomarginata'. White centered leaves with streaky green variegated margins; white scapes with purple flowers. For the collector.
A spectacular reverse sport of H. ventricosa 'Aureo-marginata', the center emerges yellow and becomes white, the wide, dark green margin is jagged.
