Info | =longipes 'Ogon Iwa'. =longipes 'Aurea' (invalid name). 12" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. Light golden, lance-shaped leaves with red leaf petioles. Bright gold with reddish petioles. Ruffled margins. Dark scapes. A good breeder for dark petioles and scapes. A breeder for dark petioles and scapes. Gold leaf with very ruffled margin. This is a golden leaf form (actually chartreuse) of the Japanese species, H. longipes. The long narrow leaves emerge gold and then change to green as the season progresses. Each 18" wide clump is topped in late summer with 20" purple scapes with purple flowers. This bright yellow longipes seedling has been around for a long time but it's name seems to be forgotten. Probably from Japan, it is a nice bright yellow in spring becoming chartreuse later in the season. Very strong grower with good red color in the petioles. Can produce seedlings that are also gold with red. |
