Info | A huge gold of rare intensity. Stemming from crosses heavily involved with 'Cynthia' and 'Sunny Smiles', 'Rio Oro' is a golden chartreuse with a fine white edging to the leaves. Forming a very neat, compact clump, this hosta increases quickly, forming a dense habit. Like 'Sunny Smiles' and its half sibling, 'Kabuki Dancer', 'Rio Oro' takes a good deal of sun without complaint. In more shade one produces a deep chartreuse coloration; in a sunnier setting, the leaves turn a clean gold which changes to ivory as the season progresses. Site determines color expression. A grand parent for sunfast golds. |
