InfoWow! I looked for this plant for years before I finally found it... what a stunner.
This sport of the classic H. 'Piedmont Gold' has a large, dark green pointed leaf, surrounded by a wide, wavy, brilliant golden band that covers nearly 1/3 of the leaf.
In summer, the clumps are topped with 30" stems of near white flowers.
This is truly one of the most stunning hostas to hit the market in years!
This is a natural sport of 'Piedmont Gold'. It did not arise in tissue culture but was found here at our nursery. It forms a mound about 3' wide and has the same elegant form as 'Piedmont Gold', wide and low growing, with nicely rippled, large, heart-shaped leaves. It has the same rich gold color in its wide, irregular edge, but the center of the leaf is dark green. When the plant matures, the gold margin measures nearly 2" wide. Unless the plant is grown in the sun, the bright yellow edge does not fade to cream or white, so the contrast holds through the summer. Flowers are pale lavender, again identical to the parent.
A Bridgewood Gardens introduciton first offered in 1997.
