Info | ='String Bean'. This is a small lance shaped leafed hosta that makes a nice small mound. It is from Walter Cullerton, a past President of the Tri State Hosta Society (NJ,NY, CT). This is what Walt has to say about it: It was a self seeder in my former garden showing up about ten years ago (1997). I don't know the parentage as I was growing over 300 cultivars at the time, but suspect it might have 'Stilletto' in it's genes. I named it 'Stringbean' and auctioned off five plants at TriState Hosta over the years. At first, maybe five years and two separate locations 65 miles apart, it grew slowly. Now its a relatively fast grower. Leaves are 3-4 inches long, 1 inch wide; mound is 6-8 "tall and flowers are dark lavender and 15-18"tall. |
