InfoWith huge leaves and unusual variegation being all the rage in the hosta world today, here I am introducing a new green miniature. I hope there are some people out there who still like small hostas, because I think this one is pretty cute. I've named it 'Surfer Girl' because of the wavy edges on the foliage.
The lanceolate leaves are sharply pointed and deeply rippled, dark green with a satiny sheen, about 2 to 2½ inches long and 1 to 1¼ inchs wide. The wavy edges of the leaves are very pronounced and attractive. The plant is stoloniferous and increases rapidly to form a mound about 12 to 15 inches wide. The tubular flowers are pale lavender with purple stripes inside, borne on rather tall (18-24") scapes.
We donated a plant to be auctioned at the Delaware Valley Hosta Society meeting in June, 1998 and were a bit surprised that it brought the highest bid of the day at $95.00
