InfoFirst Look 2003 Kevin Vaughn Award (Best Sport Judges)
A really exciting new plant from Kent Terpening, 'Tomo Yuki' is something that nurseries have been trying to get settled down for years----a wide-margin 'Mountain Snow' This clearly appears to be a new sport, not another 'White On'-type that can't keep the wide edge.
It's a real beauty with startling white margins wrapped around luscious green centers and this 'Mountain Snow' sport should eventually reach a fairly large size. The wide margins have been beautifully stable on this plant ever since he first found it as a sport on a normal plant in a nursery. The name 'Tomo Yuki' was chosen in a contest that Kent held on the Hallson Hosta Forum. It was submitted by Linda Turner of Kirkland, WA, and can be interpreted two ways. As individual words it reads "Pure Snow", while the two combined translate as "Wisdom".
Winner of the Kevin Vaughn Award for Best Sport as chosen by the AHS Judges at First Look 3 in 2003.
