| Info | 'Wild Nights' is named for a poem by Emily Dickinson (below), and the name was chosen by Carol Brashear because it's a sport of Hosta 'Emily Dickinson! Carol found this streaked version on a bus trip visit to the now-gone Breeze Hill TC lab. When there, all were invited to pick one of the 'Emily Dickinson' liners. Carol's mom Rita was there too and said "Let's take that one, it's doing something fun!". 'Wild Nights' is smaller than the stable form but grows pretty well. It's pretty cool to look at and has great big fragrant flowers. Unfortunately for hybridizers it doesn't seem to set seed. This is the streaked form of 'Emily Dickinson' that was discovered by Carol Brashear. This special Emily Dickinson plant was acquired on a Potomac Hosta Club Bus trip to NC in 1998 A bonus from taking the trip was a tc of Emily Dickinson plants that Patricia Skolnik offered. Even as a two leafed baby this one was showing streaking and it has grown very well for me here in CT and each division is streaked. A fast grower with fragrant flowers that will perfume your garden spot. |
