Info | ='Kuronami'. JN: Kuronami Giboushi = "dark (-leaved) wavy hosta". Epithet: fluctus = wave/wavy. Used in Japanese ikebana. 26" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. For those hosta species collectors, here is a plant that you rarely see... the true Hosta fluctuans. This is NOT related to H. 'Sagae' (formerly H. fluctuans 'Variegata'). This species from the Aomori Prefecture in Japan makes a medium sized clump to 28" wide. Each green leaf has a glossy top and a rough bottom due to the protruding veins. The plants are topped with light lavender flowers in early summer. Large, semi broad green leaves, white flowers, a must for the diligent collector. |
