Info | A seedling from 'Yellow Splash' x 'Halcyon', it has managed to put a number of wonderful features together in one tidy little package. The leaves are about the perfect example of this type of hosta, with good sheen, heavy substance, and surprising sun tolerance. The margins are pleasantly regular, fading from creamy yellow to white as the season progresses. Although similar in appearance to many poorly-substanced hostas, this one has firm, strong leaves that stand up to abuse all season long. What's the deal with the name? Well, we asked him about that and he said this plant has a surprise in store. As the plant gets older, the first few flowers to bloom are double and semi-double! Occasionally these are perfect hose-in-hose types. There isn't another variegated plant out there that pulls off that little trick! It has 4 inch leaves and reaches about 16-20 inches in diameter. It stays fairly low, so far reaching only about 10 inches high. Growth rate is medium. |
