Info | This is 'Spritzer' x 'Elegans', you know how difficult this is to do because of the time lag in blooming times. This is a blue that blooms late when most of the streakers bloom. I was able to do this because I accidentally stumbled onto the notion that TC will bloom at the wrong time if forced in a greenhouse. A nursery near my home had an Elegans in bloom late in the season, I bought it just to breed with. Later, one of the workers would let me go and cut off the bloom scapes on plants, they didn't care if they were blooming when they were selling them. I would bring just the scapes home, keep them in water and use their pollen for days without purchasing the plant. I only wanted the pollen anyways. See it is a part of the SpRITZer name. |
