Info | This sport differs from 'Night before Christmas' in that the white center is also tetraploid (diploid in NbC). Tolerates more sun because of the thicker leaf. Given enough sun, the scapes will turn pink. Good grower. This new introduction from Holland is reportedly a mutation from one of our favorite hostas H. 'Night before Christmas'. In appearance, it looks similar to "NBC", except that the clump is slightly smaller and the leaf edges are a darker green. The most important difference, however, is that the solid white center does not fade all growing season. H. 'Christmas Candy' is amazingly sun tolerant as long as the soil is moist. At maturity, expect a 24" wide clump of bright creamy white leaves surrounded by a dark green border...very dramatic. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with light lavender H. 'Fortunei' type flowers. |
