InfoThis introduction from Minnesota's master hosta breeder Don Dean has drawn rave reviews in our hosta trials. The seemingly flat, perfectly formed 30" wide clumps are composed of pebbled blue foliage surrounded by a carefully drawn creamy border. For us, the blue color holds longer than almost any other hostas that we grow. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with 15" spikes of near-white flowers. This is a real winner!
This is an intense blue falling within the medium shade of the blues and has a irregular gold edge to off set the rich blue. The edge becomes a strong creamy yellow rather than white as the season progresses. The mound has a very 'flat presentation' rising only 12" fit for the front of a border and grows to 32" diameter. Another attention getter during the AHS 2000 tours in Minneapolis and a new '03 intro by Plant Delights Nursery, offering third year TC plants. Selected in part for the way it holds its blue color into the late fall in MN and late season during trials in NC.
