Info | A First Look Best of Class winner. More ruffles and frills than a line of Can-Can dancers in the romantic Paris of Moulin Rouge days! Absolutely the most floofy hosta of them all, 'Gay Paree' is in a class of its own when it comes to ruffles. It has so much movement to it that it looks like a soft Sping breeze is always blowing its soft pastel leaves up to show their snowy underwear. You'll love watching the leaves unfurl to see what shape each will settle into. No two will be curved and folded alike, and never a flat one will appear. This is a plant that just celebrates Springtime! A cross of 'High Kicker' and 'Azure Snow', this plant gets its fine china appearance from a lot of hypoleuca genes being showcased. It's surprisingly vigorous and hardy, overwintering equally well in pots or in the ground, so would make a great container feature. The leaves reach about 4 x 8 inches and plant size is 24 inches high by 30 wide. The scapes are dangling with bright purple flowers clustered at the tips, and it will set seed easily. Petioles and leaf backs are white, with a dusting of white over the surface of the leaves as well, lending a freshness to the pastel sea-green leaves that is unmatched in the garden. |
