Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Hosta 1993 (Pauline Banyai).
15" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. 50 - 75 % shade.
Center tums progressively gold/cream throughout the season while the edge remains green. The more sun, the lighter the center gets. Medium lavender blooms appear in early July. Gold center with light and dark irregular splashed margin. Glaucous underneath. Pointed leaf tips. Pale lavender flowers. Rapid grower. Some sun brings out the color.
An outstanding variety, medium sized, gold with green margin.
Always near the top of the popularity poll, this golden sport of H. 'Fortunei' has a stunning deep green border surrounding a golden center. In summer, the 3' wide clumps are topped with sturdy stalks of lavender flowers. The brightness of the gold varies with the amount of light... a dynamite medium size hosta.
Light gold center with dark green margin; rapid increaser; lavender flowers.
Leaves emerge a bright light green with a dark green margin turning gold with a light green margin by summer; outstanding. One of the most popular mediovariegated cultivars. A definite standard among hosta. Wonderful groundcover as the leaves are horizontal. (Plant 36x20)
A fortunei type with leaves that emerge light green with a dark green margin in early spring, later turning gold with a green margin. One of the all time greatest hostas.
This is simply one of the best hostas ever introduced. The foliage is unremarkable as it emerges, medium green with a slightly darker edge, but the center gradually lightens to a beautiful bright golden yellow, while the dark green edge holds.
A sport of 'Hyacinthina', it is a vigorous grower and multiplies rapidly. It has the typical Fortunei shape and size, maturing to a graceful spreading mound about 3' across. Too much light and the yellow fades to white in the summer, but with the right exposure, the color is hard to beat. Lavender flowers.
Light green leaves with dark green margins emerge in spring. Center of leaves turn parchment gold by summer. We recommend some morning sun to bring out the golden color. An outstanding variety. Lavender flowers on 18" scapes from late July through August. American Hosta Society Eunice Fisher Award 1980 and Minnesota Gold Award.
An outstanding plant. Foliage is golden with narrow dark-green edges.
Best gold coloring comes from giving it several hours of morning filtered sun.
Medium, beautiful gold leaves, margined green, color holds throughout season, increases rapidly, one of the best, flowers lavendar.
'Gold Standard' Hosta is an exceptional garden plant! This hosta will grow in sun or shade. The more sun, the more intense the gold color. The large leaves begin green then fade to bright gold with a distinct green edge. Purple flowers atop 18 inch stems appear in mid to late summer. Very winter hardy and easy to grow.
