| Info | We first saw this rapid grower at the AHS Convention in Ann Arbor, MI, the rounded golden-yellow leaves have some cupping and corrugation while exhibiting good substance. The clump is topped with medium lavender flowers in midsummer which make a wonderful contrast. Hosta 'Goldee' was placed in several gardens here in Indiana in 1997 for trial study of its performance. Based upon its performance here at Dogwood Farm and the reports from our trial gardens, we think it has excellent potential as an all-gold landscape small hosta. A hybrid cross of H. 'Zounds' and H. 'Lemon Lime', it has proved to be a vigorous grower with a marked tolerance for sunnier locations. In 1999 our original clump growing in a spot with ¾ sun reached 16" in height and 36" in diameter. Its flowers are purple, and it demonstrates the reblooming characteristics of its 'Lemon Lime' parentage. Its ability to multiply rapidly allows us to offer originator stock divisions that should reach maturity in 3 years for only $20. Size 16" H X 36" W Foliage Bright gold, smooth, cordate leaves form a tight, rounded, cascading mound. Bloom Medium lavender flowers on abundant 28" scapes in midsummer. The plant rests for about 3 weeks after initial bloom and then reblooms. Multiplies rapidly, tolerates up to ¾ sun, reblooms. |
