| Info | =sieboldiana 'Northern Exposure'. =LEPRECHAUN'S LOOT (TM). 36" tall. Light Shade. This plant used to be called 'Northern Halo' but two forms (at least) were being sold. Both cultivars have sieboldiana -shaped leaves with blue-green centers. 'Northern Exposure' has a broad yellow edge turning to cream and a flatter leaf. White flowers in June. Makes a great substitute for 'Frances Williams' since it doesn't burn easily. This recent introduction from Walters Gardens is a fabulous sport of Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans', similar to Hosta 'Northern Halo'. The difference is that the edge turns a creamy yellow instead of white as the season progresses. Hosta 'Northern Exposure' makes a wide clump to 5'+ , equally as spectacular as the rest of its family, white flowers in spring on 32" scapes. Flat, puckered blue-green leaves with a wide yellow-green margin that goes to cream by mid-summer; wonderful white flowers. Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans' w/cream edge. Similar to 'Northern Halo' but leaf margins turn creamy yellow. White flowers. A Walters Gardens, Inc. introduction of a Hosta s. 'Elegans' sport. Flat, puckered, blue-green leaves with a very wide yellow-green margin lightening to a cream. White flowers. Winner of the 1991 Benedict Award for best variegated leaf. |
